The Detail
Organic cotton flat sheet in soft percale, generously cut for tucking.
Long-staple organic cotton woven to a 300 thread count percale: tight yet breathable, with a light, freshly laundered feel that holds between washes. Finished with a 10cm header and cut generously, so there is enough to tuck properly at the foot of the bed. Maize is a soft, yellow-toned neutral: warm rather than bright. GOTS and Fairtrade certified.

Pure Standard
- Certified twice over, which is the reason we chose it. GOTS covers the organic fibre and the environmental and social conditions it is processed under. Fairtrade covers what the growers were paid. Plenty of bedding claims one. Very little claims both, and Studio Sutram state theirs is exclusively GOTS and Fairtrade certified cotton.
- Percale, not sateen. A tight, flat weave that breathes rather than clings, which matters far more in an Australian summer than a big thread-count number does.
- The 10cm header. A small thing, but it is the part you fold back and look at every day, and it is what separates properly made bedding from the rest.
- Dyes you do not have to worry about. GOTS prohibits azo dyes that release carcinogenic arylamines, along with chlorine bleaching and formaldehyde finishes. On something you breathe against for eight hours a night, that certification is doing real work.
