A few products carry a more conventional surfactant than our fully plant-based lines; where that's the case, it's disclosed plainly in the Pūrē Standard section rather than buried.
Why do some laundry washes cost more than supermarket detergent? Mostly concentration and ingredient sourcing. Our washes are formulated with genuine essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance, and several brands use certified organic or fair-trade actives, that costs more to make than a mass-market formula, and we think it's worth it, but we won't pretend it's the cheapest option on the shelf.
Do I need a separate wool and delicate wash? If you regularly wash wool, cashmere, or lingerie, yes, standard laundry detergent is often too harsh for natural fibres and can shorten their life. It's a genuinely different (and gentler) formula, not just marketing.
Are the laundry capsules and detergent sheets actually plastic-free? The outer packaging generally is, but check individual product pages, capsule film is water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol (biodegradable, not "plastic" in the conventional sense), while detergent sheets are usually the most genuinely packaging-light option here.
What if I have sensitive skin or eczema? Filter by Allergy & Sensitivity for the formulas specifically checked against that concern, and look for "fragrance-free" in the product title rather than "unscented", the two aren't always the same thing.

What makes a laundry detergent low tox?
A low tox laundry wash avoids optical brighteners, synthetic fragrance, phosphates and harsh sulphates, using plant derived surfactants and enzymes instead. We rate every laundry product against our Pūrē Standard, and where a formula still contains something like SLES or a PVA film, we tell you honestly on the product page.
Are natural laundry detergents effective on stains and odours?
Yes. Many of our laundry washes are enzyme boosted to lift everyday dirt, sweat and food stains, and several include dedicated stain treatments and oxygen based boosters. You get a genuine clean without chlorine bleach or synthetic perfume.
Which laundry products are best for sensitive skin?
Look for the fragrance free and sensitive skin formulas in this collection, which leave out perfume, dyes and optical brighteners. Filter by Allergy and Sensitivity or Fragrance Free, and note that a truly fragrance free wash suits reactive skin better than a lightly scented one.
Do you offer plastic free or refillable laundry options?
Yes. We stock detergent sheets, waterless concentrates and refillable systems that cut down on plastic jugs. Filter by Plastic Free or Refillable, and check the product notes, since some sheets use a PVA film whose real world breakdown is still debated.
Are these laundry washes safe for delicates like wool and silk?
Several are formulated specifically for wool, cashmere, silk and other delicates, gently cleaning without stripping fine fibres. Look for the delicate, wool and cashmere washes in this collection for the right formula.
