Mandarin and peppermint, two of the more useful things to have in a laundry, in an ultra-concentrated wash that does a hundred loads from one litre. Four bio enzymes do the stain work rather than brute-force surfactants, it runs cold, and there are no optical brighteners, which are the additives that make whites look whiter without actually cleaning anything.

- Four enzymes, a hundred loads, and it runs cold. Protease for protein, amylase for starch, lipase for oil and pectin lyase for fruit and plant residue, at 10ml a wash from a one litre bottle. Naming four enzymes individually rather than writing "plant enzymes" is the difference between a formulation and a marketing line. It is also a gentler mechanism on both fabric and skin than aggressive surfactants, and exactly why this still works on a cold cycle.
- No optical brighteners, which is a quiet but real distinction. Most supermarket detergents include fluorescent agents that deposit on fabric and re-emit light so whites look brighter. They do not clean, they build up, and they are a common skin irritant. This leaves them out and lets the enzymes do the work.
- It removes dust mite allergens. Which Koala Eco state directly. For bedding and anyone with a dust allergy, that is a more useful claim than most of what gets printed on a detergent bottle.
- Full ingredient list published, with origin. Fourteen ingredients, each named, prefaced with made in Australia. Koala Eco are also members of 1% for the Planet.
- Where we would like more. It uses sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, a milder synthetic surfactant, alongside plant-derived decyl and coco-glucosides, so it is not a glucoside-only formula. It also contains naturally occurring limonene from the essential oils, so despite the sensitive-skin claim it is not the right choice if you react to fragrance itself.

How to Use
- Regular loads. Add 10ml, two capfuls or eight pumps, to the drawer or drum. Front or top loader.
- Problem stains. Dissolve 10ml in 5 litres of water and pre-soak before washing.
- Any temperature. Cold is where the energy saving is.
- Hand washing. Also suitable.
