A structured cotton canvas valance that sits under the mattress and skirts the base, hiding the bed frame and anything stored beneath it. Four-sided for proper coverage, with a generous 38cm drop. Heavyweight 250gsm canvas by design, so it holds its line rather than billowing. In Prism, a pure white.

Pure Standard
- It does the one job properly. Four-sided and 250gsm, so it covers the base all the way round and hangs straight instead of gaping at the corners. Most valances are thin, three-sided and a disappointment.
- Azo-free, non-toxic dyes. Confirmed by Studio Sutram for the canvas range. Azo dyes are the class most worth avoiding in bedding, and this is something that sits under you every night.
- The finishing piece for the Sutram bed. We stock it because the sheets and duvet covers look unfinished on a bare base, and this is the piece that completes them.
- Honest note on the fabric. This is cotton canvas, not the 300 thread count organic percale used for the sheets and duvet covers. It is a different, heavier cloth chosen for structure rather than softness.
- Honest note on certification. Studio Sutram hold GOTS and Fairtrade certification for their 300 thread count organic percale bedding. They do not publish the same certification against the canvas valance, so we are not going to claim it here.

Our Take
A valance is one of those pieces nobody photographs and everybody notices the absence of. This one is heavyweight 250gsm canvas and four-sided, so it actually covers the base instead of gaping at the corners, and the weight means it hangs straight rather than billowing. We brought it in because it finishes the Sutram bed properly and hides whatever you keep under it.
