- Cellulose rather than a synthetic base. The white body is natural, dye free and composts, which is more than most supermarket sponges can say.
- Non-scratch is the useful part. A scourer you can put near glazed dinnerware without leaving a record of the encounter is worth more than a harsher one you end up avoiding.
- Where we would like more, and we will say it plainly. The black scouring layer is PET, so this is not a plastic free product and we have not tagged it as one. It is recyclable, and the two layers can be separated at end of life, but the plastic is real.

The white side is cellulose and composts. The black side is PET, which is why this is not tagged plastic free, and we would rather say so than let the colour scheme imply otherwise.

Is it plastic free?
No. The white sponge is cellulose and compostable, but the black scouring layer is PET. That layer is recyclable, and it is the reason we have not given this a Plastic Free tag.
Will it scratch?
Barkly rate it as a non-scratch soft scourer and list it as safe for dinnerware, cutlery and utensils. It is not the tool for a burnt cast iron base.
