Coasters have one job: sit under a cold glass and deal with the condensation. Most attractive ones are quietly bad at it. Cork swells, felt soaks, timber rings and marks. These are moulded from solid food-safe HDPE in House of Nunu's speckled Confetti finish, so they shrug water off entirely and wipe clean in a second. Sold as a set of four.

Key Features
  • Set of four. 10cm x 8.5cm each.
  • Solid food-safe HDPE. One material throughout.
  • Waterproof. They will not stain, swell, warp or grow mould.
  • Speckled Confetti finish. Everyday marks disappear into the pattern.
Pūrē Standard
  • Food-grade HDPE. Of the common plastics it is the one chosen for milk bottles and food containers precisely because it is stable. As a material it contains no BPA and needs no phthalate plasticisers, which is not true of softer plastics.
  • A single material, so it is genuinely recyclable. Most decorative coasters are cork bonded to resin, or MDF under laminate. Mixed materials cannot be separated, so they go to landfill. This is one material throughout.
  • HDPE is recycling code 2. Among the most widely accepted plastics in Australian kerbside collection.
  • Built to outlast the alternatives. Cork crumbles, felt stains and timber warps. A waterproof coaster is one you keep for years rather than replacing every summer.
  • Where we would like more, and this is the honest bit. It is a virgin plastic, not a recycled or plant-based one, and House of Nunu do not disclose the country of manufacture. We stock it because a coaster you keep for a decade beats four that fail, but we are not going to call a plastic coaster low-tox by accident.

Our Take

Coasters have one job and most handsome ones fail it: cork swells, felt soaks, timber rings. Honest caveat, it is a virgin plastic, but a single material means it actually recycles.

Frequently asked

What are the House of Nunu Confetti coasters made from?

They are made from food safe, BPA free HDPE plastic. HDPE is one of the more widely recyclable plastics, recycling code number 2, and is chosen here to be kept and reused rather than thrown away.

How many coasters are in the set?

This is a set of four coasters in the playful Confetti finish.

Are these coasters easy to clean?

Yes, the durable surface wipes clean easily after use. We recommend hand washing to keep them looking their best.

Will every coaster look identical?

Slight colour and mark variation can occur due to the manufacturing process, so each set has its own subtle character.
