Natural fibres, and the blend is a considered one. Most affordable placemats are polyester, or cotton laminated with a wipe-clean plastic film that cannot be recycled or composted. This is 70% cotton for softness and body, 30% French flax linen for structure and the crumpled texture linen keeps after washing.
Washable, which is the whole sustainability argument. A placemat you can put through the machine replaces paper mats and repeated wiping. Linen also gets better with washing rather than worse.
A disclosed cause. Mesa Collections state that a portion of every order goes to Food for the Hungry.
Where we would like more. Mesa do not publish the country of manufacture, the placemat dimensions, or any dye and finishing information, and they hold no textile certification that we can find.
