Mesa Collections Ruffled Placemats
A soft ruffled edge and a contrast trim, in 70% eco cotton and 30% French flax linen. Linen gives them the slightly irregular, lived-in drape that makes a table look set rather than staged, and the trim does the work a plain mat cannot: it frames the plate. Sold in pairs, in five colourways from a restrained olive with cream to a genuinely cheerful lime with royal blue.

Pure Standard
- Natural fibres, and the blend is a considered one. Most affordable placemats are polyester, or cotton laminated with a wipe-clean plastic film that cannot be recycled or composted. This is 70% cotton for softness and body, 30% French flax linen for structure and the crumpled texture linen keeps after washing.
- Washable, which is the whole sustainability argument. A placemat you can put through the machine replaces paper mats and repeated wiping. Linen also gets better with washing rather than worse.
- A disclosed cause. Mesa Collections state that a portion of every order goes to Food for the Hungry.
- Where we would like more. Mesa do not publish the country of manufacture, the placemat dimensions, or any dye and finishing information, and they hold no textile certification that we can find. Their own sustainability page is honest that this is a work in progress rather than a finished standard. Natural fibre is a good start, but it is not the same as a tested and certified one, and we have scored it accordingly.

Care Instructions
- Hand wash with lukewarm water and mild detergent for best results.
- If machine washing, select the gentlest, shortest cycle at or below 30°C.
- Wash with like colours. The contrast trims are strong shades and are best not washed with whites the first few times.
- Line dry in shade. Warm iron on the reverse if you want the ruffle crisp.
