Proper kitchen towels, the flat woven kind that actually absorb, in the striped French laundry idiom. Restaurant sized, so they double as oversized napkins.
Key Features
- Set of two. 50cm x 76cm each.
- 60% linen, 40% cotton. In a flat weave.
- Dries faster than plain cotton. And softens with every wash.
- Four jobs in one cloth. Hand towel, tea towel, oversized napkin or cleaning rag.
Pūrē Standard
- Linen is the reason these work. A flat weave holds less water in the fibre, so it dries between uses instead of souring the way a damp terry towel does.
- Natural fibres only. With no synthetic content, so they shed no microplastics in the wash and compost at the end of a long life.
- They improve rather than degrade. Linen softens and gets more absorbent with washing, which is the opposite of most kitchen textiles.
- Where we would like more. Murchison-Hume do not publish an OEKO-TEX or organic certification for these, and they are made in Turkey rather than locally. We have asked about the certification. There is no published GSM either, and nothing stated about how the pair is packed.

Our Take
A flat weave in linen and cotton, which is why these dry faster than the fluffy tea towel that never quite recovers from drying a colander. Restaurant format, so they double as oversized napkins.
