A simple probe that tells you how wet the soil actually is down at the root zone, rather than how it feels on top. Push it in, read the dial, water or don't. No batteries, no charging, no app.
Key Features
- Battery free. Nothing to charge and nothing to dispose of.
- Colour-zoned dial. Read at a glance.
- Insert and read. No setup.
- Suits most indoor plants. From succulents to ferns.
- Printed cardboard box. No plastic packaging.
Pūrē Standard
- It solves the actual problem. Over-watering kills more houseplants than anything else, and the reason is that the top 2cm of potting mix dries out long before the root ball does. Your finger is testing the wrong depth. This is not.
- Battery free is the quiet win. A moisture meter with a battery is a device you will eventually throw away over a dead cell. This one has nothing in it to fail that way.
- It saves plants, which is the greenest thing a tool can do. The most wasteful part of houseplant ownership is replacing the ones you killed.
- Where we would like more. Potted do not publish the material of the probe or the dial housing. Their trade listings give the country of manufacture as China.

How to Use
- Push the probe in. Roughly two thirds of the way down the pot, avoiding direct contact with roots.
- Read the moisture zone. Off the dial.
- Remove it after each reading. Wipe it clean. Do not leave it in the pot between waterings, and never leave it submerged.
- Take two readings in a large pot. Moisture is not even across a wide root ball.

Our Take
For the chronic over-waterer, which is most of us, this tells you what your fingers keep getting wrong. The top of the mix dries out long before the roots do, so you are testing the wrong depth.

Frequently asked
How does it work?
You push the probe into the soil and read the colour-zoned dial, which tells you the moisture level down at the root zone rather than at the surface. Insert and read, no setup.
Do I need batteries?
No. It is battery free, so there is nothing to charge and nothing to throw away over a dead cell.
Will it actually stop me killing plants?
It addresses the most common cause. Over-watering kills more houseplants than anything else, and it happens because the top couple of centimetres of mix dries out long before the root ball does. Your finger tests the wrong depth.
Can I leave it in the pot?
No. Take a reading, then remove it and wipe it clean. Never leave it submerged or sitting in wet soil between waterings.
What is it made from?
A metal probe with a dial housing. Potted do not publish the exact material breakdown or a country of manufacture, and we would rather tell you that than guess.
