Two food-safe silicone mats that end the baking paper roll. LFGB-certified platinum-cured silicone, 40 x 30cm each, oven safe to 200 degrees. Two rather than one, so there is always a clean mat ready while the other is in the dishwasher, which is the reason single-mat sets end up unused.

Key Features
  • Two per pack. One in use, one clean.
  • Replaces baking paper. No roll to buy again.
  • 40 x 30cm each. Standard oven tray size.
  • Oven safe to 200 degrees. Not for the grill, and not for an air fryer.
  • Non-stick surface. Scrub it or put it in the dishwasher.
  • LFGB certified, platinum cured. The toughest food-contact standard, and the cleaner curing method.
Pūrē Standard
  • It removes a weekly consumable. Baking paper is bought, used once and binned, and most of it is silicone-coated so it cannot be composted or recycled. Two mats end that permanently.
  • LFGB certified, not just food safe. LFGB is the German food-contact standard and it is tested harder than the FDA equivalent. Most silicone bakeware claims nothing beyond food safe, which is a much lower bar.
  • Platinum cured, not peroxide cured. Peroxide curing is cheaper and leaves by-products behind in the silicone. Platinum curing does not.
  • There is an actual end-of-life answer. Seed & Sprout run a Silicone Take Back Program, so the mats can be sent back and recycled rather than binned. Almost no silicone product has a stated route out.
  • Silicone rather than a coated tray. Non-stick bakeware relies on a synthetic coating that degrades with heat and scratching. There is nothing layered on top of this to wear off.
  • Not tagged plastic free, deliberately. Silicone is inert and long-lived, and far better than single-use paper, but it is a polymer and we will not claim otherwise.
  • Where we would like more. The brand names China and says its partners work ethically, but does not publish a factory audit or a third-party labour certification.

How to Use
  • Lay it flat on a tray. The mat is flexible, so it needs a tray underneath rather than going on the oven rack.
  • No oil or spray needed. That is the point of the surface.
  • Good for the sticky jobs. Biscuits, pastry, roasted vegetables, anything that would weld itself to a bare tray.
  • Not for the air fryer. It blocks the airflow, so the food does not crisp.
Care Instructions
  • Dishwasher or scrub by hand. Both are fine.
  • Dry it before rolling it away. Silicone holds water in the folds.
  • Store flat or loosely rolled. Hard creases will set over time.
  • Nothing sharp. Do not cut on the mat, it will score.
Good to Know
  • 200 degrees is the ceiling. Keep it away from the grill element, and do not use it in an air fryer.
  • Silicone can hold onto strong smells. A wash in hot soapy water usually clears it.
  • It is a polymer. Better than a paper roll you bin every week, but it is not a natural material and we have not pretended otherwise.

Our Take

Baking paper is almost all silicone coated, so it cannot be composted or recycled and goes in the bin after one tray of biscuits. Two mats end that, and one is always clean.

Frequently asked

Why two mats instead of one?

Because one is never enough in practice. The moment the single mat is in the dishwasher you reach for the paper roll again, and the habit never changes. Two means there is always a clean one ready, which is the whole point of replacing a consumable.

Do I still need to grease the tray?

No. The silicone surface is non-stick on its own, so no oil, no spray and no paper. Lay the mat flat on a baking tray rather than straight on the oven rack, because it is flexible.

How hot can it go?

Oven safe to 200 degrees Celsius. Keep it clear of the grill element, and do not use it in an air fryer, because the mat blocks the airflow and the food will not crisp.

Is silicone actually safe to bake on?

These mats are LFGB certified, which is the German food-contact standard and is tested more intensively than the FDA equivalent. They are also platinum cured rather than peroxide cured, so there are no curing by-products left in the material. Stay under 200 degrees and it is inert.

Is it plastic free?

No, and we have not tagged it as such. Silicone is a polymer. It is inert, it lasts for years and it is a genuine improvement on a weekly paper roll, but it is not a natural material and we will not claim it is.

What happens when it wears out?

Seed and Sprout run a Silicone Take Back Program, so the mats can be returned and recycled rather than binned. That is unusual. Most silicone kitchenware has no stated route out at all, which is the main reason we stock this one.
