A high-fired ceramic crock for the tools you reach for without looking, heavy enough at 550g that a full set of utensils does not tip it. LFGB-certified ceramic with a matte glaze, which is the standard you would want on a dinner plate and almost nobody applies to a utensil pot.
Key Features
- 10 x 10 x 14.2cm. Holds a full set of long-handled tools.
- 550g. Heavy enough not to tip.
- LFGB-certified ceramic. Food-grade glaze, not just decorative.
- Matte high-fired glaze. No shine, no crazing.
- Embossed logo. Pressed into the clay, not printed on.
Pūrē Standard
- Glaze safety still matters here. Wet utensils sit in it all day. Most utensil pots are sold as decor with nothing said about the glaze. This one is LFGB certified.
- High fired, so it is non-porous. Low-fired ceramic absorbs water and eventually smells. This does not.
- One material. Clay and glaze. No plastic insert, no printed transfer, no coating.
- It is the weight that makes it work. Light pots tip when you pull one tool out. 550g does not.
- Where we would like more. China is named, but no factory audit and no take-back scheme for the ceramic range.

Our Take
A utensil pot is usually sold as decoration, so nobody mentions the glaze, even though wet tools stand in it all day. This one is LFGB certified, high fired and non-porous.

Frequently asked
How big is the utensil holder?
10 x 10cm at the base and 14.2cm tall, weighing 550g. It takes a full set of long-handled tools without tipping when you pull one out.
Is the ceramic glaze food safe?
Yes. It is LFGB certified, the German food-contact standard, which is tested more intensively than the FDA equivalent. Most utensil crocks are sold as homeware with nothing stated about the glaze at all.
Does it absorb water from wet utensils?
No. It is high fired, which vitrifies the clay and makes it non-porous, so it will not take on water or smell. Low-fired ceramic does both.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
It is dishwasher safe, but the brand recommends hand washing and we pass that on. Avoid scourers, which dull a matte glaze.
Why does mine look slightly different?
Each one is finished by hand, so glaze depth and tone vary a little between pieces. That is the nature of a high-fired matte glaze, not a fault.
Does it come with utensils?
No, the holder only. The Seed and Sprout beechwood cooking utensil set is sized to sit in it if you want the pair.
