Four pieces that nest into one, and between them prep, store, cover and serve. LFGB certified steel with a natural beechwood lid, so the bowl you chop into becomes the bowl you cover and put in the fridge, then the one you set on the table.
Key Features
- Four interchangeable pieces. Prep, store, cover, serve.
- They nest. One bowl of cupboard space for the set.
- Beechwood lid. Natural timber, and it doubles as a serving board.
- LFGB certified. The German food-contact standard, stated by Seed & Sprout.
- No plastic. Steel and timber only.
- Mulberry. One colourway.
Pūrē Standard
- LFGB is the stricter standard. It goes beyond the usual food-safe claim and tests for what actually migrates out of the material into food. Very few kitchen brands bother to name it.
- Steel and timber, no plastic. The thing this replaces is a stack of plastic containers with snap lids that warp, stain and crack at the hinge.
- Four objects collapse into one. A prep bowl, a storage container, a lid and a serving bowl, bought once rather than four times.
- Both materials age honestly. Steel and beechwood can be repaired, re-oiled or recycled. A cracked plastic container has one destination.
- Where we would like more. Seed & Sprout do not publish the country of manufacture.

How to Use
- Prep in it, then cover it. The lid turns the mixing bowl into a fridge container without decanting anything.
- Turn the lid over to serve. The beechwood works as a board for bread, cheese or pastries.
- Nest it when it is not in use. The whole set stores in the footprint of the largest bowl.
- Fruit bowl on the bench. Open, it is a very good one, and the lid keeps things out of the light.
Care Instructions
- Hand wash the beechwood lid. Timber does not belong in a dishwasher.
- Dry the lid flat. Standing it on edge wet can warp it over time.
- Re-oil the timber occasionally. Food-safe oil, whenever it starts to look dry.
- Steel pieces are easy. Warm soapy water, or the dishwasher.
Good to Know
- Seed & Sprout flagged a packaging issue themselves. The first batch arrived from their supplier taped with plastic tape, which they did not expect. They chose to use the packaging rather than waste it. Worth knowing if plastic-free delivery matters to you.
- It is heavy. 2.2kg for the set. That is steel, and it is the reason it will outlast plastic, but it is not a lightweight thing to post.
- Not airtight. The timber lid sits on rather than seals, so it is for the fridge and the bench, not for liquids or long-term pantry storage.

Our Take
The one that quietly replaces a cupboard: four pieces nest into the space of one and do the job of a mixing bowl, a fridge container, a lid and a serving dish.

Frequently asked
What are the four pieces?
Two steel bowls, a steel lid and a beechwood lid, which nest into each other and can be combined however you need. That is the point of the set: the same pieces are a prep bowl, a covered fridge container, a fruit bowl and a serving board depending on how you stack them.
Is it airtight?
No. The timber lid sits on rather than sealing, so this is for the fridge and the bench rather than liquids or long-term pantry storage. For a proper seal their glass containers with clip lids are the better choice.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
The steel pieces can. The beechwood lid cannot, and timber in a dishwasher will crack and grey. Hand wash it, dry it flat, and re-oil it with a food-safe oil whenever it starts looking dry.
What does LFGB certified actually mean?
It is the German food-contact standard and it is stricter than the usual food-safe claim, because it tests what migrates out of the material into food rather than just approving the material on paper. Very few kitchen brands name it, which is why we do.
Is it really plastic free?
The product is, yes. Steel and beechwood, no plastic anywhere in it. One honest caveat on delivery: Seed and Sprout have said their first batch arrived from their own supplier taped with plastic tape, which they chose to use rather than waste. We would rather tell you than let you find out.
How heavy is it?
2.2kg for the full set. That is what steel weighs, and it is the reason it will still be in your kitchen in ten years, but it is worth knowing if you are watching shipping.
