A 500ml borosilicate glass cup for smoothies, iced coffee and juice, with a removable silicone sleeve for grip and a slim profile that actually fits a car cup holder. It comes with a wide glass straw and a cleaner for it, so there is nothing else to buy.

Key Features
  • 500ml. Smoothies, juices, iced coffee, shakes.
  • Single-walled borosilicate glass. Clear and heat resistant.
  • Removable silicone sleeve. For grip and protection, and it comes off for washing.
  • Glass straw and straw cleaner included. Both in the box.
  • Fits most car cup holders. Seed & Sprout's own claim, and the reason the profile is slim.
  • LFGB certified. Stated by the brand.
  • Matches the range. Designed alongside their glass coffee cups, which we also stock.
Pūrē Standard
  • Glass, for the drinks that need it. Smoothies and iced coffee are acidic and often oily, which is exactly what degrades a reusable plastic cup and makes it hold flavour. Borosilicate does not.
  • LFGB is the stricter standard. It tests what migrates out of the material into the drink, rather than simply declaring the material food-safe.
  • The straw is glass, not stainless or plastic. And a cleaner is included, which is the thing that usually gets skipped and makes reusable straws unpleasant.
  • It fits a cup holder. A reusable cup that does not fit the car is a reusable cup that stays home, which is the whole failure mode.
  • Not tagged plastic free, and the brand disagrees. Seed & Sprout market this as a plastic-free alternative. The sleeve is silicone, which is a polymer, so under our own standard it does not qualify. Inert, long-lived and far better than a disposable cup, but we are not going to call it plastic free when it is not.
  • Where we would like more. It is Australian designed, but Seed & Sprout do not publish where it is manufactured.

How to Use
  • Blend straight into it. The wide mouth takes a stick blender and a spoon, which is the point of the shape.
  • The sleeve slides off. Take it off for a proper wash, and to see how much is left.
  • Use the cleaner on the straw every time. A wide glass straw is easy to keep clean and unpleasant if you do not.
Care Instructions
  • Dishwasher safe. Glass, sleeve and straw.
  • Wash the sleeve separately. Silicone holds water where it meets the glass.
  • Do not take it from the fridge to boiling. Borosilicate handles heat well, but no glass likes a sudden swing.
Good to Know
  • We cannot confirm whether a lid is included. Seed & Sprout's own contents list names the cup, sleeve, glass straw and straw cleaner, with no lid, but their photography shows one. We have asked them and will update this the moment they answer. Until then, assume no lid.
  • Single-walled, not double. It will not keep a drink cold for hours, and a hot drink will be warm to hold. That is the trade for the slim profile.
  • Glass straws can break. Treat it as glassware. Seed & Sprout sell stainless replacements if you would rather not risk it.
  • It is heavier than a plastic cup. 420g empty. That is what glass weighs.

Our Take

The reusable cup problem is never the cup, it is whether you take it with you, and most fail on one stupid detail: they do not fit the car. This one does.

Frequently asked

Does it come with a lid?

We cannot say yet, and we would rather tell you that than guess. Seed and Sprout's written contents list is cup, silicone sleeve, one wide glass straw and a straw cleaner, with no lid mentioned, but their own product photography shows a lid. We have asked them to confirm and will update this page. Please assume no lid until we do.

Will it actually fit my car cup holder?

Seed and Sprout designed the slim profile specifically for that and say it fits most car cup holders. Most, not all, so if your holder is a narrow one it is worth measuring. It is the detail that decides whether a reusable cup gets used or left on the bench.

Can I put hot coffee in it?

Borosilicate handles heat, so yes, but it is single-walled. The glass will be warm to hold and the drink will not stay hot for long. It is built for cold drinks. For hot coffee their double-walled coffee cup is the better buy.

Can I blend straight into it?

The wide mouth takes a stick blender and a spoon, which is the reason for the shape. We would not put it in a jug blender base, because it is a drinking vessel and not a blender jar.

Is it plastic free?

No. Seed and Sprout market it as a plastic-free alternative, and the glass, straw and cleaner all qualify, but the sleeve is silicone and silicone is a polymer. Under our own standard that means no tag. It is still a long-lived replacement for disposable cups.

How do I clean the straw?

With the silicone cleaner that comes in the box, every time you use it. A wide glass straw is genuinely easy to keep clean, which is its advantage over stainless, and all of it is dishwasher safe including the sleeve. Wash the sleeve off the cup so water does not sit between the two.
