The missing half of the compost bin. Line the caddy, fill it, and lift the whole thing out without scraping last night's dinner off stainless steel. The liner goes in the compost with everything else.
Key Features
- One roll of 25 liners. 8L, 38.5cm x 40cm.
- Made from Mater-Bi. A corn starch based compostable bioplastic.
- Certified Home Compostable. To AS5810, and compliant with AS4736.
- Sized for the caddy. The Seed & Sprout kitchen compost caddy.
Pūrē Standard
- This is the piece that makes the compost bin actually get used. A caddy with no liner is a caddy you rinse every night, and the thing people quietly stop doing is the rinsing.
- Certified rather than asserted. Home Compostable to AS5810 means it has been tested against an Australian standard, a meaningfully higher bar than a bag described as biodegradable with nothing behind the word.
- Made in Australia. From non-genetically modified corn starch, and Seed & Sprout state it leaves no toxic residue or microplastics.
- Where we would like more, and it is the honest caveat. Mater-Bi is still a bioplastic, which is a polymer. It is a real improvement on a conventional liner and it genuinely composts, but we have not given this a Plastic Free tag, because it is not.

Our Take
The piece that makes the caddy actually get used, because a caddy with no liner is one you rinse every night. Certified home compostable to AS5810, though still a bioplastic, so no plastic free tag.

Frequently asked
How many liners do I get?
One roll of 25 bags.
What are they made from?
Mater-Bi, a compostable bioplastic made by Novamont from non-genetically modified corn starch with biodegradable polymers.
Are they genuinely compostable at home?
Yes. They are certified Home Compostable to AS5810 and comply with AS4736, so the claim is tested rather than asserted. Seed & Sprout state they leave no toxic residue or microplastics.
Will they fit my caddy?
They are 38.5cm by 40cm, 8L, sized for the Seed & Sprout kitchen compost bin.
Are they plastic free?
Not by our standard. Mater-Bi is a compostable bioplastic, which is a meaningful step up from a conventional bin liner but is still a polymer, so we have not given it the Plastic Free tag.
