We The Wild - Instant Sun - Grow Lamp
Instant Sun Grow Lamp for Rooms the Sun Forgot
A small mushroom-shaped lamp on a telescopic stake that pushes straight into the pot, so the light sits where the plant needs it rather than somewhere across the room. Warm white and full-spectrum, tuned to encourage growth without scorching leaves. Stake it, switch it on, and stop apologising to your fern about the north-facing window.
Key Features
- Stakes directly into the pot. No fixture, socket or shelf required.
- Telescopic stem adjusts from 188mm to 710mm as the plant grows.
- Warm white, full-spectrum LED designed not to burn foliage.
- Runs on 5V from the included wall plug, or a 1.5m USB cable.
- Shade made from a recycled plant-fibre material rather than plastic.
- Rated for up to 25,000 hours.
Pure Standard
- The shade is plant fibre, not plastic. This is the part we actually care about. A grow lamp is a small object that ends up in landfill eventually, and almost every one on the market is moulded ABS. Choosing a recycled plant-fibre composite for the visible body is a real decision with a real cost, and it is why this lamp has the slightly speckled, matte look it does.
- Five volts, with the transformer in the plug. Sensible for something you are pushing into damp soil. The lamp itself carries extra-low voltage rather than mains.
- Warm white rather than the usual purple. Most cheap grow lights are magenta blurple LEDs that make a living room look like a crime scene. This runs a warm full-spectrum white, which is why it can sit on a desk without being unbearable.
- It solves a problem instead of selling a subscription. A 25,000 hour rating is roughly eight years at eight hours a day. Nothing to refill, nothing to replace.
- Where we would like more. We The Wild do not publish the wattage, the spectrum figures, the country of manufacture, or what exactly the plant-fibre composite is bound with. The stem is metal and the cable is a standard jacketed lead, so this is not a plastic-free product overall, and there is no stated take-back or repair path. That is what holds Transparency down.

How to Use
- Push the stake into the soil at the edge of the pot, clear of the root ball.
- Extend the stem so the shade sits above the foliage, anywhere from 188mm to 710mm.
- Plug into the wall using the included adaptor, or run it from a USB port with the 1.5m cable.
- Use it to supplement daylight in a dark corner or through winter, not to replace a window entirely.
- Keep the plug and adaptor away from where you water, and avoid soaking the base of the stem.

Our Take
A little mushroom lamp on a stake that goes straight into the pot, for the dim corners where plants slowly give up. Warm white rather than the usual blurple, so it can sit on a desk without making the room look like a nightclub. For anyone whose flat has more character than natural light.

Frequently asked
Is this a bulb or a lamp?
A complete lamp. It has a telescopic stake that pushes into the pot soil and comes with its own plug and cable. It does not screw into an existing light fitting.
How does it plug in?
It runs on 5V, either from the included wall plug adaptor or from any USB port using the 1.5m cable. The transformer sits in the plug rather than in the lamp.
How tall does it go?
The stem telescopes from 188mm to 710mm, so you can raise it as the plant grows or drop it low over a seedling tray.
Will it burn the leaves?
It is designed not to. The light is warm white and full spectrum rather than a high-intensity horticultural lamp, so it is intended to sit close to foliage as a supplement to daylight.
Is the light purple like other grow lights?
No. It is a warm white glow, which is why it works on a desk or a shelf in a living room rather than only in a grow tent.
How long does it last?
Rated for up to 25,000 hours, which is roughly eight years at eight hours a day.
What is it made of?
The shade is a recycled plant-fibre material used in place of plastic, on a metal stem. The cable and plug are conventional, so the product as a whole is not plastic free.
