The Fresh Prep Set

Wash it, chop it, clean up after. Four brands we trust for the produce side of the kitchen. It comes in over A$125, so the set ships free, and Household members earn double Drops on it.

• Seed & Sprout wood cellulose chopping board in Mushroom, Large.
• Koala Eco fruit & vege wash, Mandarin, 500ml.
• Murchison-Hume wooden pot brush. Mexican palm fibre and wood.
• Euclove plant-based kitchen cleaner spray, 500ml.

Every piece is checked and scored against the Pūrē Standard. Same price as buying each piece separately.

• Produce washed properly. Even organic fruit and veg picks up drift spray, handling and dirt, and water alone does not shift wax or oil.
• A board that will not warp, split or go furry. Non-porous, into the dishwasher, no oiling.
• No plastic bristles. The pot brush is palm fibre and wood, and composts at the end of its life.
• A bench spray that cuts grease. A coconut soap base with eucalyptus, clove and tea tree oil.
• Four brands, four pieces, one job each. Nothing in the set doubles up.

Every piece in this set is scored on its own against the Pūrē Standard. The set score is the average of the pieces.

• Seed & Sprout Mushroom chopping board. Scores 4.1 out of 5 on its own, strongest on sustainability (4.5), softest on performance (4). It is 75% cellulose and 25% resin, so it is not plastic free, and Seed & Sprout publish no certification for the resin.
• Koala Eco fruit & vege wash. Scores 4.9 out of 5 on its own, strongest on performance (5), softest on sustainability (4.5). Five ingredients, every one named.
• Murchison-Hume pot brush. Scores 4.9 out of 5 on its own, strongest on low-tox (5), softest on performance (4.5).
• Euclove kitchen spray. Scores 4.4 out of 5 on its own, strongest on transparency (5), softest on performance (4). Every oil has a stated origin.
• Where we would like more. Performance is the set's softest score at 4.4 out of 5, mostly down to the chopping board and kitchen spray.

Overall set score:

• The wash. Pull up the push-pull top, add 2 to 3 squirts to half a sink of cold water, wash the produce, then rinse under clean water and dry.
• The board. Chop, then carry it to the table by the handle cut-out. Heat resistant to 176°C for a hot dish.
• The pot brush. Hold it in your palm. Strong enough for cast iron and baking pans, gentle on enamel and non-stick.
• The spray. Shake well, spray onto the bench or appliance and wipe with a soft damp cloth. Ventilate while you work and keep pets out until surfaces are dry.

• Board. Into the dishwasher, top or bottom rack. No oiling. Knife marks are normal and do not affect it.
• Pot brush. Rinse and always air dry, never soak. Some cracking along the grain is normal. When it wears down, demote it to bathroom duty, then compost it.
• Wash and spray. Store below 30°C, out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

• Chopping board. Seed & Sprout Mushroom, Large, 32.5 x 44 x 0.6cm, 1.2kg. 75% compressed cellulose paper, 25% resin. Made in China.
