Refills are the rare habit that costs you less and asks almost nothing in return. You keep the bottle you already own, top it up from a concentrate or a larger pack, and skip buying a brand-new plastic bottle every few weeks. Over a year, the savings in both money and waste are hard to ignore.

Why refills work

Most of what you pay for in a cleaning product is water and packaging. A concentrate strips both out: you add the water at home, and the bottle you refill has already been made. That means a lower price per use and far less plastic heading to the bin.

Concentrate or large refill?

There are two easy formats to look for:

• Concentrates: a small bottle of active formula you dilute into your spray bottle. Lightest to ship, cheapest per use.
• Large refills: a bigger bottle (often one litre or more) that tops up your everyday size several times over.

Where to start
