Murchison-Hume's Counter Intelligence spray works hard but plays nice. It is a surface cleaner and an odour eliminator in one step, safe on marble, granite, laminate, wood, ceramic and any water-safe surface, and it smells of fig rather than of chemicals.
Key Features
- Plant-based. Non-fuming and non-toxic.
- Safe for babies, pets and food-prep areas. Stated by the brand.
- Safe on stone. Marble, granite, laminate, wood and ceramic.
- Two jobs in one step. It cleans and eliminates odour.
- Refillable recyclable PET. Australian made and cruelty free.
Pūrē Standard
- Safe on stone, which most sprays are not. Marble and granite are damaged by acidic cleaners, including the vinegar in a lot of homemade recipes. This one is formulated for them.
- Decyl glucoside does the cleaning. A plant sugar surfactant from the same family used in baby washes.
- No methylisothiazolinone. MIT is a known contact allergen and a common preservative in conventional cleaners. This uses phenoxyethanol and benzyl alcohol instead.
- Safe around babies, pets and food prep. Which Murchison-Hume state plainly rather than implying.
- Australian made and cruelty free. In a refillable bottle you top up with a 100ml concentrate that makes two more bottles.
- Where we would like more. The scent is a fragrance compound rather than named essential oils.

Frequently asked

Yes, and this is the important bit: marble and granite are damaged by acidic cleaners, including the vinegar in most homemade recipes. This is formulated to be safe on them, along with laminate, wood, ceramic and any water-safe surface.
Is it safe around babies, pets and food?
Yes. Murchison-Hume state it plainly. It is non-fuming and non-toxic, and the surfactant is decyl glucoside, a plant sugar surfactant from the same family used in baby washes.
What is left out?
Methylisothiazolinone, a known contact allergen common in conventional cleaners. This uses phenoxyethanol and benzyl alcohol instead.
Is there a refill?
Yes, a 100ml concentrate that makes two more full bottles, so the spray bottle you own keeps going.
Where is it made?
Australia. 100% cruelty free, in a refillable and highly recyclable PET bottle.
