The Towel Edit
Single towels first, then multi-piece sets, then the robe and wrap. Everything here is pure cotton or linen with no synthetic blend, which matters twice over: blends repel water, which is the opposite of a towel's job, and they shed plastic microfibres into the wash every cycle.
On certification we will be straight with you. Lost Towels are GOTS certified across the supply chain. Fridah and one of the Mayde sets carry OEKO-TEX Standard 100, which tests the finished fabric for harmful substances. House of Nunu publish no third-party certification at all, and their towels are here on weight and design rather than paperwork. If certification is what you are after, the GOTS options are the better fit and we would rather point you there than oversell.
What does GSM actually mean? Grams per square metre, so the density of the pile. Supermarket towels sit around 300 to 450. Most here run 530 to 600, which is noticeably more absorbent. Heavier is not automatically better, because a very dense towel takes longer to dry on the rail.
Why does my new towel not absorb? Residual finishing oils from manufacture. Wash before first use, skip the fabric softener entirely, and it improves over the first few washes.
Set or separates? Sets are better value and arrive coordinated. Separates make sense when you want to replace one worn piece rather than a whole bathroom, which is the more sustainable habit anyway.
