Pure Standard
- Six ingredients, all of them named. Sandalwood powder, palo santo powder, benzoin powder, guar gum, pure jasmine essential oil and water. That full disclosure is the reason we brought it in: almost nothing else in this category will tell you what is in the stick.
- Real plant material, not a scented stick. The wood and resin are the incense itself rather than fragrance sprayed onto a blank bamboo core, which is how most incense is made.
- Pure jasmine essential oil, not a synthetic floral note, in a category where synthetic perfume is the norm.
- Guar gum as the binder. A plant gum doing the job that synthetic binders usually do, with water as the only other input.

- Light the tip, let it burn for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame.

Our Take
Palo santo rounded out with benzoin resin and a little jasmine, so it reads warm and resinous rather than campfire. Hand rolled in France from six listed ingredients, no synthetic perfume anywhere in it. Forty-five minutes a stick, which is about double the supermarket version, and that is rather the point.
