The Plastic Free Edit

We hold this one strictly, which is why the list is shorter than most stores would make it. A bar wrapped in paper qualifies. A refill pouch made of recycled plastic does not, and lives under Refillable instead. Both are worthwhile, they are just not the same claim.

Why do other shops have far more plastic-free products than this? Because most count recycled or reduced plastic as plastic-free. We do not. If a product arrives with a plastic pump, a plastic film or a plastic cap, it is not in here.

Is plastic-free always the better choice? Not automatically. A refillable bottle you keep for five years can beat a single-use paper alternative. Plastic Free is about the material; Refillable is about the system. Worth using both filters.

Good to know

Common questions

What counts as a plastic free product?

For this collection we apply a strict standard: products with no plastic at all, whether glass, ceramic, stainless steel, bamboo, natural fibre or compostable material. Items that use recycled plastic or refillable plastic sit in our Refillable collection instead, so the Plastic Free tag stays genuinely meaningful.

Are plastic free swaps actually better for the environment?

Choosing durable, reusable materials over single use plastic reduces waste and microplastic shedding over time. The biggest wins come from pieces you keep and reuse for years, like glass bottles, solid bars and compostable tools.

What are the easiest plastic free swaps to start with?

Solid bar soaps, refillable glass bottles, compostable dish brushes and cellulose sponges, and glass or stainless steel storage are all simple first steps that replace common single use plastic items.

Is recycled plastic considered plastic free?

No, and we are deliberate about this. Recycled plastic and refillable plastic products are genuinely better than virgin single use plastic, but they are not plastic free, so we keep them separate under our Refillable tag for honesty.

Do plastic free products cost more?

Sometimes the upfront cost is higher, but durable and refillable options often work out cheaper over their lifetime by replacing many disposable items. Concentrates and refills in particular stretch a long way.
